Will my Harvest history reconcile to the cent after import?

The question every switcher asks first is not about features. It is whether ten years of hours and rates come across intact, and how they would know.

What the report checks

After the import, Winnows recomputes hours and billable amounts from the data it now holds, using the same pricing its reports use, and compares them against Harvest’s own totals by client, by project, by member and by year. Every row either matches or is itemised down to the entry, with Harvest’s figure beside ours. Money is compared to the cent, computed in integers, 8.5 hours at $75.07 is $638.10 on both sides, never a floating-point $638.09.

What it caught in a real account

A 32,000-entry account reconciled with 26 rows off. All of it traced to three things, and none of them was a missing entry:

• Negative entries. Harvest accounts carry corrections against locked weeks, a −2h entry that cancels a mistake. Fifteen of them, −52 hours, $3,317 of billable value. An importer that skips “anything under a minute” drops them silently and over-bills the client. They import with their sign now.
• Zero-hour entries.Forty-one notes-only entries with no time. Skipped on purpose, and counted in the report rather than listed as missing.
• Hundredths of an hour.Harvest keeps hours to two decimals; Winnows keeps whole minutes. 0.33h is 19.8 minutes and becomes 20. Eighteen entries, at most 30 seconds each, net 0.4 minutes across the account. The report says so instead of calling them variances, and keeps Harvest’s own amount for those entries so money still matches to the cent.

Why it matters before you cancel

The import is idempotent: re-running it syncs what changed and never duplicates, so you can run both tools through a switchover month and re-run the reconciliation at the end. The report is the thing you look at before cancelling, not after.
